Motivated by applications in infrastructure networks (mainly traffic and transportation) we are studying how network flows can be optimized using distributed controllers. Existing results for linear systems with an H-infinity objective will be generalized to accommodate non-linear flow constraints and other convex objectives. Goals:

During 2017, we studied a networked PI control system with capacity constraints. In particular, we proposed an anti-windup scheme for a class of control problems with constraints on the control signal. This class, includes networked systems, where each node contains a subsystem and each edge comprise a control action. The networked anti-windup control system is proposed to address the issues caused by integrator state saturation. We showed that the suggested control scheme is input-output stable. Furthermore, we provided a numerical analysis for robust performance of the suggested control system.
